Kaunas Alexander Pushkin gimnazium, Lithuania

The  school lies in Kaunas, which is one of the biggest cities in Lithuania. There are about 300000 people in Kaunas, 4 universities (the most famous is Medicine university), many young people from Arabian countries come to study to this city.  Kaunas  has always been a cultural center. They  have a Music theatre, a Drama theatre, a philharmonia and a new Kaunas Sport Arena, where different sport events are held. Kaunas is famous for its basketball team Zalgiris.  European basketball championships are also held in the  city. People mostly make their living by working in service business and in food industry. The biggest problem in Kaunas is emigration. Young people go abroad to look for better-paid jobs and leave Lithuania forever

There are 940 students in Gymnasium. It is a multicultural community where students of different nationalities are studying (they come from Armenia, Ukraine, Chechnya, Russia). It is the only school of that type in Kaunas  where subjects are taught in Russian and Lithuanian.
